History of Pomeroy Tool Inc.

Minnesota Sign_edited.jpg

Richard Pomeroy opened the doors of Pomeroy Tool in 1980 at his home garage in Elk River Minnesota. Richard was a very driven and skilled machinist, and he quickly caught the attention of several Minnesota based manufacturing companies. Because of his exceptional quality and service, Pomeroy Tool began working for the aerospace industry almost immediately, and it still remains a core component of our business to this day. Richards' dedication to quality and customer service became the core values of our company from the very beginning, and has allowed us to retain many of the original customers for over 40 years.

Early Days

Growth and Expansion

In 2008, Richard retired and sold the business to Long Do. Long was a Vietnamese immigrant with a work ethic that was hard to beat. His background in engineering allowed him to grow the company, and add a few key customers in the automation and robotics industry. Long was always looking to the future and made many very strong connections throughout the Minnesota manufacturing community along the way. In 2017 he began working on expansion and decided that acquiring another established machine shop would be a great way to break into different business sectors.

Acquisition and Move

DeGhetto Engineering, was founded by Robert DeGhetto in 1960.  Robert was a University of Minnesota graduate, served as a City Council Member and was also Mayor of Minnetonka.  Regretfully, Robert DeGhetto passed away in 1998. At the time, Richard (Dick) Anderson, having been a long time employee of DeGhetto Engineering (since 1974), purchased DeGhetto Engineering.  In 2005 James Davis came on as a partner. Together Jim and Dick grew the business from just two CNC Machines to over 25 CNC Machines with a wide variety of capabilities. In 2018 both Dick and Jim were looking to retire and sold their business to Pomeroy Tool. Shortly after they also acquired Home Tool and Machine LLC, a small tool and die shop run by a young machinist, named Joseph Brudzinski. In February of 2019 Long and Joe moved Deghetto Engineering to their new location in St Louis Park. Joe was promoted to Vice President of operations and was responsible for operating Deghetto Engineering, while Long continued operating Pomeroy Tool. Sadly, in the summer of 2019, Long passed away unexpectedly. At that time we decided to close our original Elk River location and merge Pomeroy Tool and Deghetto Engineering under one roof in St Louis Park.
